You may remember Nicolas and his adorable newborn photography session from a recent blog post I did. I was so thrilled when his mommy and daddy, Olga and Ivan, asked me to document and become his Southfield Baptism Photographer, as well. Memories like baptisms are precious, both emotionally and spiritually. You want to look back on those photos and have beautiful images to remember the day by, not some gross blurry and dark cell phone image with half of Aunt Betty's index finger gracing the left side of the image. Your child (and you!) deserves more, and better!
Nicolas' baptism took place at St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Southfield. It was a beautiful, sunny day outdoors, which matched the upbeat and special vibe indoors perfectly. Baby Nicolas had grown up so much since I had seen him last, and his chubby little cheeks have filled out, and his full head of hair make him absolutely adorable. The baptism service was beautiful, and he slept through pretty much the entire blessing service, and only woke up at the very end.
His big sister Kristina was also there, and we were able to gather everyone together after the service and get a few updated family photos as well. I love photographing inside St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Southfield, because all the beautiful golden pieces in the sanctuary really provide such a gorgeous atmosphere for photos. I also love being able to tell the story of the day, through images. You will always remember that day, and I love also taking some wider images, showing the guests that were also in attendance. I adored this baptism, because you can see the pride and excitement beaming off everyone, even the guests in the audience, as they proudly snap their cell phone photos to share excitedly. Some photographers don't appreciate friends and family getting "in the way" of their shots, but I actually welcome it and enjoy it! It helps paint the portrait of the day, the decade, the time, and the people! Who knows, maybe one day when Nicolas looks back, he and his friends will laugh at our "archaic" old cell phones we used to used? It's a funny thing to think of!
If you're in the market for a Southfield Baptism Photographer, I'd love to chat with you! I hope you enjoy a preview of my favorite images from Nicolas' special day.
